We have and use a number of 3D Printers to create everything from airplane models, to figurines and roleplaying minis, to architectural models, to fine art.
We have 3 FDM (fused deposition modeling) printers, which use a plastic filament extruded from heated nozzle which is controlled by a computer controlled series of step motors to build 3d prints like a very precise hot glue gun. The most typical plastic filaments used in these machines are PLA (Polylactic Acid, made from renewable resources such as corn or sugar cane) and ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, a very easily recycled thermoplastic).
We also are the proud early adopter of our brand new SLA (Stereolithography, the process of curing layers of a photo sensitive resin) printer, called the Milkshake! It has amazing resolution which requires very little cleanup, and a large bed size, so that we can print large objects or huge objects in parts to be assembled.
