TOLIN FX HALLOWEEN BASH!
A CELEBRATION OF PITTSBURGH’S ROMERO LIVES!
Tolin FX is proud to be a part of Pittsburgh’s citywide celebration of the life and work of our local hero, legendary and visionary filmmaker George A. Romero.
Many businesses and organizations throughout the city are participating in the festivities in their own way, through film screenings and other special events. All of which can be found at romerolives.org.
For our part, Tolin FX is going to throw a Halloween block party at Tolin FX in honor of the horror icon, in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood. The Halloween Bash party will celebrate George, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh’s vibrant film community, horror & zombies, Halloween, and Dia de los Muertos.
QUICK NOTES
We are going to HAUNT YOUR SOCKS OFF! Tolin FX and friends are coming together for a freaky filled night of fun for ALL AGES! Step right up and be amazed at the wonder and mystical magic of the Halloween spirit. Expect to see the BIZARRE! The SPOOKY! and the GHOULISH! This block party is like non other. There will be a SLEW of entertainment and fun!!
THIS EVENT IS FREE FOR EVERYONE TO ATTEND!!
- The party will start at 6pm on October 31st, 2018, and go until 11pm.
- The event is inside a little, and we’ll also have some light cover, but is mostly outside- which FYI could mean cold and wet.
- Don’t forget it will be Halloween in Pittsburgh folks!!
- This means
- 1) wear a costume if you have one, and
- 2) make sure it’s warm and water resistant.
- 3) consider an umbrella or rain jacket/hat/some kind of rain cover
COSTUMES ARE NOT REQUIRED, BUT ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Festivities begin at 6p and go until 11p.
- 5:30-7:30p, Trick or Treat: Come visit your friendly neighborhood monster and special effects shop for tricks and treats. We’ll have treats and fun, like bobbing for apples, and scares and games, like pin the pin on Pinhead.
- 7-8p, Doug Bradley’s Spinechillers: Our pal Doug Bradley will read selected poems from his Spinechiller Series. He’ll read the likes of horror icons Edar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and others. The reading will take place inside of the Tolin FX fabrication shop, located in the back of Tolin FX.
- 8-8:30p, C.L.U.B.’s Beechview Halloween Parade: See a managere of ghouls and goblins wind their way down Pittsburgh’s widest street, Broadway in Beechview, brought to you by Community Leaders United for Beechview. They will be joined by a number of Pittsburgh businesses, as well as percussion artists, children in costume, Dia de los Muertos skeletons, and even a Tolin FX float! Starting at St. Catherine’s Cathedral and traveling to the IGA parking lot, where C.L.U.B. will also conduct a children’s costume contest.
- 8-8:30p, Commencement: Local cast and crew that had the honor of working for George, will kick off the festivities and unveil a statue of George Romero that Tolin FX’s Kyle Roberts has spent the past 4 months sculpting.
- 8:30-9p, Lucha Libre Wrestling: Pittsburgh wrestling pros will take the stage in an epic showdown on Beechview’s Broadway Ave. Featuring “The Latin Assassin” and the crew of the Beechview Brawl.
- 8:30-9:30p, Only Flesh: See suspension artists perform their insane antics while the entertain with music and shocking performance. This one of a kind performance will take place in the Tolin FX Fabrication Shop, located in the back of Tolin FX.
- 8:30-9:30p, Zombie Shoot Em Up: Try your skill and luck when you try to make multiple headshots on our zombie performer. Each head hit sprays fake blood from the zombie and 3 successes wins a prize!!
- 8:30-11p, Street Performers: Fire jugglers, street magicians, artists, buskers, and puppeteers will take to the streets in Beechview. They will shock and amaze!!
- 6-10p, Food Trucks: Food and Beverage vendors will line part of Broadway Ave, providing us all with plenty of sustenance.
- 6-11p, Main Stage Performances: Musicians and performers take the stage outside the Pittsburgh Current to entertain and party!!

- 10-10:30p, Lucha Libre Revenge: The tides will turn when new parties enter the fray!! Look out for The Honey Badger and Wendell the Sasquatch!!
- 11p: EVERYBODY GO HOME!
ROMERO STATUE & THE ROMERO CREW
We’re lucky to be friends with some of the awesome cast and crew that hung with George and helped to create his films. Many of them will join us at 8p to unveil a tribute bust statue being sculpted by Tolin FX sculptor and General Manager, Kyle Roberts. We’ve also had the blessing of a visit and continued correspondence with Suzanne Desrocher Romero, as she has helped Kyle really nail George’s essence.

DOUG BRADLEY
We will be honored with a visit by our pal Doug Bradley at 7p, for a staged reading from his awesome Spinechiller Series. He will be reading the works of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and others. Free to all.
