The third movie and final chapter in the Christopher Nolan Batman Trilogy. The movie filmed in many cities including NYC, LA, London, and Pittsburgh. It was a big shot in the arm for Pittsburgh’s film scene and put a lot of artists to work in the city. The SFX were headed by Chris Corbould out of London and supervised in the US by Scott Fisher and coordinated by Tom Pach, both out of LA.
Steve Tolin worked under coordinator Tom Pach (Short Circuit) for this film, responsible for assisting with the implosion and explosion of the steel prison wall, the explosions in the sky box at the stadium. Tolin also worked with on the snow team, covering Downtown Pittsburgh in paper snow for weeks,. But Steve’s biggest involvement was working with Chris “Flimsy” Howes on the bat helicopter known as The Bat, playing an essential role in the fabrication of The Bat and in helping maintain it while on set in Pittsburgh. Steve also painted the Cat Woman puppet skin that rode inside The Bat at times.
